Notable Works
Adeori is a short experimental film that explores the intimate relationship between Black hair, memory, and identity. Rooted in personal narrative, the film follows a visual and emotional journey of reclaiming beauty, autonomy, and cultural heritage through the act of hair care and adornment. Named after the Yoruba word meaning “the crown has become goodness,” Adeori blends textile, sound, and movement to honor the sacredness of Black hair and the rituals that surround it. The piece was created in tandem with a wearable garment that reflects the complexity, tenderness, and strength found in the Black hair experience. Through poetic imagery and layered symbolism. Adeori asks: What does it mean to care for what the world has tried to shame? How does our hair carry our histories and our futures?
